About the project Iscte – Meta Digital is a non-profit education project developed in collaboration with the university, businesses, and local territory, that aims to establish itself as a leading entity in innovation and digital transformation. Its focus is on developing an educational offering tailored to individuals, companies, and organizations, and on supporting the implementation of transformative projects that leverage digital potential. Iscte – Meta Digital has chosen AppX as its main technological partner to develop the website and platform, enabling streamlined registrations and automated payments and notifications. Challenge Designing and developing the Iscte – Meta Digital platform presented a challenge, primarily due to the need to organize and integrate course information from various sources, their partners. We had to develop a robust system that not only gathered and displayed diverse educational content coherently but also streamlined the registration and payment processes. Solution The platform features a comprehensive, easily navigable catalog of courses, providing a seamless registration process and an intuitive method for expressing interest in upcoming courses. Additionally, it includes automated notifications to keep users promptly informed about course registrations, updates, and payment confirmations. Impact This platform significantly enhances the user experience by providing a streamlined, accessible, and efficient educational environment. Within just a few months of its launch, the system has already attracted hundreds of registrations, demonstrating its effectiveness and appeal. The automated notification system keeps users well-informed about course availability, updates, and payment processes, ensuring they are engaged and can plan their learning journey effectively.
About the project The Inspiring Future project is an educational initiative in Portugal aimed at facilitating access to higher education information through a digital platform, while also promoting fairs and workshops in high schools. Seeking to elevate their impact, the Inspiring Future team wanted to upgrade their digital platform and partnered with AppX to develop this new version. Challenge The challenge of enhancing the successful Inspiring Future project involved meeting high expectations due to its large user base. The main focus was to develop a scalable architecture to address previous shortcomings, ensuring it could handle increasing traffic and future growth. Additionally, the project required a highly intuitive, searchable user interface for easy access to blog posts and educational resources. Solution The upgraded platform dramatically simplifies the hard task of making educational decisions by enhancing user experience with advanced search capabilities and a well-organized blog featuring sub-posts for easy navigation. It includes integrated tools that automatically calculate GPA and evaluate enrollment requirements, streamlining the complex application process. Additionally, it offers personalized college recommendations tailored to students’ profiles, budgets, and interests. Detailed institutional profiles provide extensive information about each college, its environment, and campus life, helping students navigate the difficult decisions regarding choosing a place to study. Impact The impact of the platform is substantial, with hundreds of thousands of students registered and over 50 million pageviews. It serves as a crucial resource for students making informed educational decisions. They can explore a variety of colleges, comprehend admission requirements, and evaluate financial aspects including budgets and accommodation costs. The platform also offers insights into the overall college environment, aiding students in finding their best fit.
About the project Listoo is a PropTech company focused on leveraging technology to simplify the bureaucracy and automate property transactions in the real estate sector. Unlike traditional real estate agencies, Listoo does not charge commissions, employ traditionally dressed consultants, or operate physical stores. Instead, they offer a fixed-price service, powered by a digital platform. Listoo selected AppX to bring their vision to life by developing a cutting-edge digital platform designed to enable their transformative approach. Challenge The major challenge for the AppX team when developing this platform was managing the scale of the application. Listoo’s ambitions were big. They were aiming to create a large-scale real estate platform with comprehensive features. Beyond the standard, these include detailed property listings, subscription plans, digital contracts, interactive tools for managing offers, communications, and scheduling visits. Integrating all these elements required a robust technological framework. Solution To address the complexity of their large-scale real estate ambitions, AppX developed a web application designed to fully digitalize the real estate transaction process. It allows users to create and manage detailed property listings with photos, videos, and documents, while also providing sophisticated tools for handling offers and counteroffers entirely online. The integration of AI assists in generating optimized property descriptions, enhancing listing accuracy and appeal. Digital contracts are also facilitated through the platform. Impact The impact of this real estate platform in Portugal has been transformative, making property transactions smoother and more accessible for the average user. With hundreds of house listings only one year after the go-live, Listoo offers users a streamlined, transparent path to managing real estate.
About the project Virbac is a veterinary products brand that began its direct operations in Portugal in 2001, although its products had been marketed in the country through other pharmaceutical companies since 1990. The company already had an initial version of a loyalty platform to deepen their connections with customers. However, it began to encounter performance issues, and the solution was very outdated. Virbac needed a more robust and scalable solution for the next years of activity, which is where AppX came into play. Challenge The primary challenge in developing the new loyalty platform for Virbac was ensuring a seamless transition from the existing system to the upgraded one. This was particularly crucial as numerous clinics across the country were using the old platform daily. It was imperative to implement the new solution without disrupting ongoing operations and to design the platform to be as intuitive as possible. This approach aimed to minimize the need for training. Solution AppX developed an entirely new loyalty platform for Virbac veterinary clinics with an intuitive interface allowing for streamlined product browsing and point accumulation through a digital loyalty card. Clients can enjoy discounts across the whole network, enhancing engagement and generating more sales for Virbac. The platform is tailored with role-specific access for commercial and clinical staff and includes an internal news hub. Additionally, integrated SMS marketing foster effective communication and client retention. Impact Since the launch of the new version of Virbac’s loyalty platform, the impact on the market has been significant, with over 200,000 purchases registered. This surge in activity demonstrates the platform’s effectiveness in engaging clients and facilitating seamless transactions across the network of clinics. As a result, Virbac has strengthened its market position, showcasing the platform’s role as a vital tool in the growth and success of their brand.
About the project COOKOO – The Kitchen Hub is an innovative culinary venture based in Lisbon, launched in 2019. Operating under the slogan “One Kitchen, Multiple Concepts”, Cookoo plans to revolutionize food delivery by housing multiple restaurant concepts within a single space. This unique model allows customers to order a variety of dishes from different cuisines in the same order, providing unparalleled convenience and diversity. COOKOO has selected AppX to develop the app that supports their business and allows them to stand out in the food delivery industry. Challenge COOKOO presented us with the challenge of developing a food delivery mobile app that would integrate seamlessly with their established kitchen operations and existing backend systems. This task required a deep understanding of their current infrastructure and the ability to enhance it without disrupting the current stack. The goal was to create a solution that could cohesively support their innovative business model, facilitating management across multiple restaurant concepts. Solution AppX developed a cutting-edge mobile app for COOKOO, designed to integrate with the existing order systems already operational within their kitchens. This strategic enhancement streamlines the order process, linking multiple restaurant concepts seamlessly and boosting operational efficiency. About the project Appyshot is an innovative application developed in Portugal with the vision of enhancing the quality of party games worldwide. Appyshot brings creativity into celebrations by introducing fun and challenging games that continuously evolve. Appyshot distinguishes itself by allowing players to combine various game categories into a single, tailor-made game experience for each party. Challenge AppX recognized the significant challenge ahead. The objective was to create a standout app in the competitive party game market, seamlessly blending innovative gameplay with user-friendly design. We anticipated the need to balance robust technical development with the integration of creative and engaging game elements. The challenge was set to not only captivate users but also to continuously offer fresh, dynamic challenges that would keep them engaged. Solution To meet these challenges, AppX adopted a flexible and iterative development approach. We focused on building a robust platform that could easily integrate various game categories, allowing for endless combinations of party games. We also implemented a system for regularly updating challenges, ensuring that content remains fresh and engaging. Impact The impact of Appyshot has been remarkable since its launch. Achieving over 100,000 downloads and climbing to 4th place in the iOS Store on the Entertainment category, the app has resonated widely with users looking for innovative party game solutions. While the success of Appyshot belongs to the client, it also underscores the effectiveness of AppX’s chosen tech stack and development strategy, proving that the combination of a user-friendly interface, customizable gameplay, and regular content updates can lead to significant traction in a competitive digital marketplace.
About the project PadelBox is a Portuguese company established in 2014 that revolutionized the Padel sport experience. PadelBox is leaving a lasting mark of quality and enjoyment in the Padel community and launched a mobile app tailored for Portuguese Padel. Committed to innovation, it aims to enhance league organization and player engagement, for which they selected AppX to be their technological partner in the development of the mobile app and platform. Challenge The main challenge for PadelBox revolves around effectively engaging users to register and maintain active participation while addressing critical functionalities like real-time team communication, absence management, and social media elements. Solution In addressing the multifaceted challenge facing PadelBox, AppX has crafted an integrated solution. An intuitive registration process complemented by personalized incentives was developed to drive initial user engagement, ensuring a seamless onboarding experience. For real-time team communication, the robust chat features and instant notification system provide essential tools for effortless coordination. An automated absence reporting and substitution mechanism streamline league operations, alleviating administrative burdens. Impact The implementation of PadelBox’s comprehensive solution is positioned to make a significant impact on the Padel community, both locally and beyond. By streamlining league operations, enhancing user engagement, and fostering community interaction, PadelBox is set to elevate the Padel experience to new heights with an app that already reached the #12 spot in Portugal’s iOS Sports app category. With plans of expansion into other European countries on the horizon, the platform is positioned to become a central hub for padel enthusiasts across the continent, promoting inclusivity, connectivity, and a shared passion for the sport on a broader scale.
About the project Inlife introduces a new approach to renting houses for students and professionals in Portugal, Spain and Italy. They believe that the solutions currently available based only on photographs, some videos and generic descriptions are often unable to meet customer expectations and lead to decisions without certainty or confidence that can result in disappointment. To support their new approach, it would be necessary to develop a customized digital solution, adapted to their concept. That is why AppX was contacted by Inlife. Challenge The client adopted a digital-first strategy, utilizing digital platforms to engage clients. Inlife developed two innovative services: Housing Trip, offering virtual tours of apartments, and My Inlife Advisor, providing personalized housing recommendations through a personal assistant. AppX was tasked with creating a modern, intuitive platform to support these services. Solution The solution involved the development of two applications: a web application for the end users (people looking for a house) and a backoffice for the Inlife team to manage the entire rental process. Being a totally digital product, all the interactions and processes are done through the platform: scheduling visits, changing dates, notifying landlords, online payments, among others. The platform also supports complete workflows for the rental process, encompassing online payments, lease agreement management, tenant verification, status tracking and more than 50 different types of email notifications. Impact Inlife, a platform and digital service launched in 2019, has gained thousands of users worldwide by 2024, helping many find accommodation in Portugal. The company is optimistic about how digitization has fueled its growth, enhanced accessibility, and filled a market gap by offering a service that provides users with greater confidence and awareness about the spaces they rent.
About the project IULCOME is an annual event hosted by ISCTE – University Institute of Lisbon, designed to welcome new students and facilitate their integration into university life. It serves as a pivotal moment for students to meet each other and engage in a variety of activities and games, fostering a sense of community and belonging. To support these ambitions, ISCTE partnered with AppX to develop digital solutions for the event. Over the course of three editions, AppX has continuously expanded the solution. Challenge Recognizing its potential but also the logistical challenges involved, AppX was invited to create a multi-platform solution for IULCOME. This system would have to integrate an extensive array of modules to facilitate direct interaction with participants and organizational members. One of the primary challenges of the solution was ensuring the creation of complete teams, each composed of participants from various courses, using only real-time information. This logistical complexity arose because it was unpredictable which participants would attend before the event. Solution The solution developed for the IULCOME initiative is a robust multiplatform system that efficiently manages event logistics and enhances participant engagement. Key features include seamless team formation at check-in and attendance tracking via card scans. Participants can book lunches and engage with the event through a comprehensive gamified mobile app. Additional features like real-time score updates further enrich the experience, integrating seamlessly into the institution’s existing signage systems. Impact The solution crafted by AppX significantly enhanced the client’s event management capabilities, streamlining operations and enriching participant engagement with innovative features. By providing a dynamic and adaptable platform, AppX enabled the client to seamlessly handle the complexities of their large-scale event, from team formations to real-time interactions.
About the project Woo’s Pure Feelings, a premium Portuguese jewelry brand, crafts unique pieces that embody emotion, using high-quality 925 Sterling Silver with Rhodium and Stainless Steel. Renowned for its exquisite designs including medals, necklaces, earrings, and more, Woo’s ensures unparalleled quality through modern technology and premium finishes. With a strong presence via hundreds of distributors and four stores in Lisbon and Cascais, the brand is focused in expanding its reach. Embracing the digital era, it’s time for Woo’s Pure Feelings to go online. That’s when they met AppX. Challenge The main technological challenge for Woo’s Pure Feelings’ online platform was developing a customization feature that allows users to design their own jewelry pieces, a core aspect of the brand’s identity. This required creating a user-friendly interface that supports intricate customizations while maintaining a seamless and intuitive user experience. Additionally, the back-end needed to support complex logistics for custom orders, ensuring accurate and efficient processing, production, and delivery while integrating this system with existing inventory. Solution AppX has meticulously developed a comprehensive e-commerce solution tailored to the distinct style and audience of Woo’s Pure Feelings. Built on the robust WooCommerce platform, the online store allows customers to browse the extensive catalog, immerse themselves in the brand’s concept, and purchase their favorite jewelry pieces directly. The entire design of the online store focuses on delivering an “experience” to the customer, characterized by simplicity in interaction and a strong emphasis on brand empathy. Impact Following the implementation of all solution modules, Woo’s Pure Feelings experienced a significant uptick in online sales, both in terms of order volume and revenue. 141% Year-Over-Year growth in revenue 108% Year-Over-Year growth in sales
About the project Corpo Nacional de Escutas (CNE) is the largest scouts organization in Portugal, with around 72,000 members. It is a non-profit association with 90 years of history, aimed at training young people and the volunteering of its members. In order to train its leaders, the CNE developed a complex training methodology, with several phases that needed the intervention of different users, and with mandatory participation in training sessions across the country. Challenge Before the digital transformation, the entire training course was managed manually through physical documentation. This method was decentralized, complex, highly prone to human error. Close to the edge of what was possible to manage with the manual method, and in order to centralize information, bring regions closer together and maintain a historical record of all activities, the need arose for a platform to support and manage the entire training course. For this reason, the CNE challenged AppX to develop this solution. Solution The solution features a web platform tailored to manage all main tasks and processes of the association, spanning national operations. With geographic flexibility at its core, the platform allows the management of courses and training sessions from any location across the country, and enables trainees to enroll in sessions outside their local area. The solution integrates all the business rules to ensure uniform compliance among participants. Designed to cater to users of varying technological proficiency, it supports the uploading of traditional physical documents. An automatic report production feature ensures a seamless transition from traditional to digital methods by replicating crucial documentation. Impact With the development of this solution, the CNE digitally transformed a complex and time-consuming process, opened the doors for the implementation of continuous training and now allows greater synergy between the different regions of the country.
About the project LinkYou is a project co-financed by the European Union. Together with Latin America, this service aims to contribute to the exchange of knowledge between academia and companies. The project intends to modernize the way research topics arise and reach students, as well as enhance employability through closer contact between academia and companies. AppX had the opportunity to contribute to this project with its software development services using state of the art web and mobile technologies, making the “Challenge Academy” app a reality. Challenge In a digital society characterized by the demand for new experiences by users, the academic world also seeks to reinvent itself and adapt to the agility of the market in the search for academic solutions to solve problems in the business world. Our challenge was centered on creating a platform that bridges the gap between industry challenges and academic expertise. This involved enabling professional partners to present real-world business problems for exploration through research projects and thesis by university students, alongside facilitating connections with professors and researchers. Solution We design and developed a crowdsourcing mobile app called “Challenge Academy”, allowing the registration of students, professionals, teachers and researchers. In the app, professional partners can challenge university students to solve concrete business problems through research projects and master’s thesis. At the same time, the platform allows professors and researchers to come into contact with real business needs. Impact With dozens of partner companies and universities and hundreds of students registered in Portugal and Latin America, AppX is proud of the way this project has contributed to boost employability and bring private funds for academic research.
