The Future of Prosperity If you’ve read a news publication in the past 10 years, you’ve heard of blockchain. If the term is new to you, go read about it––we’ll wait. Back with us? Great. Meet Etherfuse – a blockchain platform originating from Mexico that aims to expand decentralization in areas where blockchain adoption isn’t yet widespread. The main idea is to promote adoption by highlighting the benefits that blockchain can have in each respective area. Blockchain is all the rage right now, and we’ve decided to skip following the “accepted norm” design – a clean, corporate-looking website with pastel colors. Instead, we’ve reached down into the depths of our childhood and went for a “The Matrix” inspired design, fusing what was considered cutting edge 20 years ago with what’s cutting edge today. Strategy During the discovery process, we’ve realized that we need to steer clear of things considered too technical or “nerdy” since, geographically, the target audience did not relate to these aspects much–in some cases even being apprehensive. This paved the way for an approach that focused on highlighting values, whether they’re personal or collective, to highlight how blockchain can bring transparency to and cut out middlemen in everyday interactions. Since the focus here was mostly on South America and Africa, the approach required a different kind of persuasion that involved focusing on how blockchain’s adoption can make improvements in social aspects, almost completely ignoring crypto talk. Family values, communication, and trust were among our central focus points. Design Solution The universal word “Pixels”. Looking very digital and technological, just about everyone is familiar with the word pixel and what it stands for. If you don’t, Wikipedia has a great article about it. We’ll wait. Now that we’re on the same page, the great thing about pixels is that they create something whole once you zoom out enough, and that’s a great analogy for the brand’s message – together for better, prosperity through collaboration. Using pixels, we’ve drawn a whole picture (and unified, too) – starting with the logo and concluding with patterns and abstract art. The web application and the website served as means of communication with customers but became out-of-date and did not cover all needs from both sides. Thus, the improvement and modification of the products of Travelsment became the idea of this project. The challenge We had to significantly improve and increase the functionality of the application. The trip booking process had to become fast and convenient. To achieve this, we had to optimize the booking form and provide an opportunity for our clients to customize sample itineraries, that they can see on the website. The next step was to design trip itinerary pages, that contain all information about a destination, transport, hotels, activities selected by a client. The final touch was the creation of a user profile for a quick access to all trips' information. Our vision We’ve decided to keep simplicity and lightness in design since the wide range of functionality and ease of its use play the main role here. Nevertheless, we did our best to convey the vibe and esthetics of Travelsment and keep the balance between convenience and beauty. Whether you’re planning on buying the next iPhone or not, you’re following because cutting edge today becomes commonplace tomorrow. HeronCode is a firm believer in innovation. In fact, so strong that it’s either that or elimination. We agree. “Do or Die” is HeronCode’s way of life, and we made sure that the website reflects that. Applying some unusual approaches and a ‘storytelling’ narrative, we’ve emphasized the urgency and importance of staying ahead of the competition because 2nd place isn’t good enough. The Task HeronCode’s eccentric thinking and propensity for unconventional approaches got our creative juices flowing like no other. We collectively concluded that we’ll bury ‘conventional’ and tell a story instead. Talking about “innovation” while moving through the motions would have missed the mark; that’s why we took you back to history class instead. We’ll show you the development of industrialism over the years and how rapidly technology and automation evolved. Surprised that we’d be so bold and assume that you need a refresher course on industrialism? Good, remember that feeling next time you’re visiting a mundane landing page; you might miss it. The Challenge We all have a different definition of disruptive. Walking the fine line between innovative and outlandish was a delicate process that required familiarity with the field at hand and its target audience. Once that was solved, we applied HeronCode’s motto, “Innovate or Obsolete,” to our design and copywriting. Considering that the website is usually not the first point of contact with the brand, we went all in. Backed by chants of “MORE!” from the client, we used the fine line as a jump rope and made daring statements, only stopping when taking another step meant falling off a cliff. The Concept To make the punchline meaningful, we had to provide a little backstory. Forcing you to sit through an essay on industrialism is harsh even by our standards, so we kept the text to a minimum. You get to watch industries flourish and die within less than 60 seconds, emphasizing how easy snoozing can render you obsolete. Ask Nokia. The Twist It’s your turn to get involved. Early on, it was decided that we must employ AI to reflect the state of the industry today. Showcasing the power of artificial intelligence was actually very easy, all things considered – it required very little manual work. Take a mental note; this is important ? We’ve found an online service (artbreeder.com) that employs AI to generate beautiful dreamscape videos from only a few manually selected images. This approach enabled us to communicate KGD’s values and goals in a way that’s topical, functional, and visually pleasing. Logo Redesign From the beginning, it was clear that KGD knew exactly what they wanted and showed up prepared with a comprehensive strategy. They introduced us to KGD’s core values that solidified over the bureau’s 20+ years of existence. We prepared multiple logo redesign options that underlined said values from multiple varying angles, and they elicited long internal conversations. It’s one thing to evaluate drafts, and something else entirely to look at options that will grace every element of your company–including massive neon signs! It was mutually agreed that the well-known KGD logo should remain the same, and everything else go through an overhaul. We’ve created a new visual branding that implemented the logo as part of a whole picture instead of being a key element. Did anyone say “organic, please?” Vision Vision? Humans first. One of KGD’s core values is to put the tenants center-stage, and we’ve mimicked that in the design. Sensory, comfortable, and functional were all cornerstones of our vision for KGD’s visual overhaul, and we’ve made it work seamlessly with the architecture aspect of it all. We’ve designed with natural colors in mind, the type of shades you’ll see in real life. To ensure a perfect synergy – the visual elements used thin lines and soft yet stern fonts reminiscent of architectural schematics. Process This one required finding our footing, but once we’ve had our feet firmly on the ground, the “foundation” stage turned into “project complete” fairly swiftly. An initial draft of our vision was presented to KGD early on, and after adjusting things to the clients’ liking, the final design was fleshed out and implemented swiftly. Mobile-first approach Considering the tourist-centric nature of the location, we opted for a mobile-first approach. After all, you’re always carrying your smartphone. We steered clear of typical ‘restaurant website’ clichés where everything essentially converges on a single point: the menu. Instead, we developed a design language that provides enough room for every individual aspect to shine while painting a bigger picture. Good communication can inspire, connect and transform. It all began with a grandiose idea, of course: create a top-notch website for the company to communicate with their no-nonsense thinking clients. While always a huge bonus, “creative thinking” communication was not a factor in this case, since the message conveyed had to be concise and unambiguous. Cultivate’s promise to their clients is “Your message will be delivered in the right form, place, and time – to the right audience”. That’s exactly what their new website conveys. We know – medals are in order ? Challenge Clear and concise message delivery was crucial to the client, and we’ve chosen to steer clear of overusing photos and illustrations. While they’re great for establishing a visual mood, they’re also distracting, and we needed to “funnel” the end-user into reading texts. Verbalizing the messages was an idea that stood out during the concept stage. We’ve focused on blending simplicity with elegance and beauty to bring Cultivate’s request to life. Vision It was clear as day that we’ll be putting font front and center as soon as we’ve started the design phase. Harmonious font compositions with a tiny bit of graphical elements in between will ensure clear and direct communication without diverting attention to the other visual elements. Second, we focused on soft and natural colors to reference, well, nature (and farming!), directly linking Cultivate with its target audience. Finally, we’ve added a bit of texture to the background, creating a sense of interaction not with a digital product, but something from the physical realm. Twist The twist involved weaving Cultivate’s geographical location into the design. The illustrations used the techniques and patterns of indigenous Australian tribes, native to Queensland, where Cultivate’s offices are located. The Gubbi Gubbi tribes drew with dots, and that’s reflected in our abstract illustrations. The dots’ rightful place provided an additional level of semantics to the website as a whole.   Read More

Play like a TSM Pro with the Logitech G Pro series Collabs, we all love ’em, right? There’s nothing quite like having two artists you love writing a song together, or two cinema titans clashing. We’ll get back to the topic at hand before we’ve gone so off track that an MCU marathon will push this case study’s deadline back by a month: Logitech is a huge name, and not just in the field of gaming, and TSM is swiftly becoming a household name. The crossover of these two huge players (wink wink) in the gaming and eSports industry is one that didn’t fly under the radar of anyone who calls themselves a “gamer”. They’ve had everything but design, and we were glad to bridge that gap. Our design reflects all things exciting about gaming and eSports: competition, adrenaline, fun, and sports. The Challenge A word that keeps being thrown around more and more with each passing day: saturation. Industry and manufacturing advances at breakneck speeds, and getting products to the production line is easier (and cheaper) than ever. The same thing applies to information. Attention spans are extremely short in the Tik Tok age, and we knew that if we’re not delivering crucial, juicy information as soon as the landing page has loaded – eyes start to wander. But wait, there’s more! We had to underline the benefits offered by Logitech without compromising on the playful yet sleek gaming vibe of TSM. The Vision Balance. Remember saturation from “The Challenge” above? Great – we’ve done a lot of fine-tuning between showing you crucial information, and holding back enough to avoid giving you flashbacks to pre-adblocker internet browsing. For extra sophistication, our design inspiration came from movie posters, “Mission Impossible” and “Tron”, to name a few. The Process As strange as it might sound, separating the physical and the digital was the decision that stripped things down enough for us to piece them together into a design that’s responsive, interactive, and structured. Treating Logitech and TSM separately allowed us to properly highlight the benefits of each and feel like it speaks to the visitor. The Result First off – the project was developed completely in-house. Báchoo’s involvement was essentially a creative/graphic module–like what a GPU does ? We presented the client with four layouts in different resolutions with all the accompanying guides, assets, and kits. TSM's new Website: eSports at Its Finest TSM (Team SoloMid) is a professional esports organization, based in Los Angeles (CA). They compete at the highest level in various esports disciplines and have won numerous titles in world competitions. Our objective was to create a website that offers effortless access to comprehensive information about TSM, catering to its loyal fanbase, esteemed partners, and prospective athletes. The Challenge Our challenge was to craft a design that seamlessly weaved together fun and sophistication, appealing to a wide range of audiences. TSM’s design team also challenged us to revamp their existing style and enhance its usability, making sure their brand radiates energy and success. The Vision Our solution was to concoct a design that married simplicity and clarity, with a touch of playfulness. We accomplished this by incorporating minimalistic layouts with sleek forms and adding delightful elements such as patterns, icons, and interactive features, making the design not just visually stunning but also engaging and memorable. The Twist TSM’s got big plans, and that includes helping new talent shine. On their website, we used a slick background color change trick to set apart the different areas of development. For the up-and-coming stars, we went with a fresh white color to represent their journey’s start. Gaming in the workplace Let’s talk creativity. We’ve all played games that completely changed us after we were done. Origamix aims to transplant this effect to the workplace – take a team, get them to play together, and come out different when they’re done. No, not like Squid Game. Stop asking. Twist Our involvement in fleshing out the website’s look, feel, and performance was vast, and we’ve never had as much fun playing with puzzles as we did here. After the project was launched, we realized that we’ve inadvertently ended up playing the game ourselves. Process The brainstorming sessions that determined the website’s look went a lot like the trademark Origamix approach — breaking things down, seeing what works and what requires improvement, and then hammering at it. Vision Drawing references from neon signs abundant in everything cyberpunk and futuristic, we’ve blended that with the retro-futurism aesthetic customary of the 80s, resulting in an idea similar yet fresh. Challenge Avoiding the common pitfalls of banality was a concern for us, considering how easy it is to spiral into mediocrity. Making things exciting and playful was central to this project, and we’ve pulled it off by toning a few things down while cranking other things way up. We took great care to emphasize how easy it is to use Pinpoint to attain your desired results. A clean, professional approach was all it took to elevate an obvious choice to look unlike anything else yet still familiar. Challenge Showcasing showcase software. Our design had to spotlight Pinpoint’s works without becoming a distraction itself. Balancing between the two in a way that brings out the best in each other forced us to make a lot of minor adjustments that ultimately formed a whole picture that’s pleasant to look at and delivers a clear message. Vision Focused. We had a simple goal in mind – No distractions. Showing off Pinpoint’s prowess was easy, but making the text as pretty to look at required some artistic gymnastics to get to look as enticing. Twist The fine print. The IKEA catalog is available online as a PDF, but everyone prefers thumbing through the physical thing (environment be damned!). It’s all in the feeling, and we ran a mile with that idea. This project’s scope was as enormous as the Giant Magellan Telescope’s total light-collecting area (368m2), and listing the highlights would likely take longer than casting one of its mirrors (~4 months). We settled on a “Greatest Hits” collection format instead. With a client as groundbreaking (ahem) at the Giant Magellan Telescope, our vision had to keep up. We’re designing a website for the giantest (ahem) telescope currently under construction. By the way, for parallels, we’ve launched the website in multiple phases; this allowed us to include some ‘under construction’ pages for a short time. The Idea It’s not the scale, it’s how you use it, and despite being quite gigantic, the Giant Magellan Telescope is by far the most effective Earth-based telescope we’ll see for quite a while. Our idea was to make sure that the website speaks to those with limited knowledge in photonics and/or astronomy and scientists alike instead of casting a wide net and hoping that something sticks. This resulted in the main website reading almost like a National Geographic magazine, and the separate “For Scientists” section speaks in tongues; we’d be more specific, but we’ve had trouble pronouncing some of the words and figured that’s a great stopping point. The Challenge Doing justice to a project as important as the Giant Magellan Telescope was of immense importance. After all, once completed, the Giant Magellan Telescope will be our primary source of groundbreaking scientific discoveries. Did we mention that it had to cater to the general public and the scientific community? The Twist Renders. The telescope is still under construction, and we had to rely on schematics and 3D renders to display it visually. Instead of being shy about it, we’ve made the renders and animations central to the experience. You’ll forget that it’s still under construction ? The scientific community isn’t as easily impressed, though. A different approach was applied: an overlay that trims the fat and focuses on the science that makes the Giant Magellan Telescope (and the discoveries it will help bring to life) possible. The Vision Many of us spent our teens and early twenties glued to astronomy books. TikTok wasn’t around yet, and we had to entertain ourselves somehow. Considering how visual a lot of astronomy science is, we’ve had a great baseline to use for the design language. The color palette was an easy choice – We went for the dark spectrum of blues and purples to fit in with the topic at hand, accompanied by breathtaking animations provided by GMTO. The Process This is the big one. The project’s scope involved a lot of things that we wouldn’t usually be caught doing, like studying a ~300-page long science book, for example. Since we weren’t strapped for time, there were multiple design iterations throughout the project’s course, providing several options to choose from. We’re on the brink of 2023, and yacht charter payments are still frustrating. Enter Yachtly — paying and getting paid made simple for clients, brokers, stakeholders, and yacht managers. Did we mention that it’s all under one intuitive UI? We have now. The Problem United States’ yacht charter industry still uses 20th century tools, and in the age of credit cards and payment apps, the most used payment method is checks. Yeah, imagine that. Yachtly’s “out with the old, in with the new” approach birthed a payment tool perfectly tailored to the industry, accounting for the needs of all parties involved in charter processing. Automation and convenience are the game’s name now, and “forgotten/lost invoices” horror stories can finally enter the realm of myth. The Challenge From the very beginning, the project demanded a lot of effort to collect and put together all the information about the industry’s operational intricacies. Initially, the Yachtly team came to us with the idea to <redacted> (sorry, NDA reasons). But, during the research stage, a decision was made to pivot in a completely different direction; this is an excellent example of how a startup product can change significantly during infancy. The more insights both teams gathered about the charters business, the more sophisticated the platform became. At the same time, the main goal was to keep it user-centric and as simple and streamlined as possible. The Solution We took the Stripe platform as a basis for payments processing. Thankfully, Stripe offers multiple integration options. Our team of experienced developers worked some voodoo magic, resulting in a deep customization of the platform for all the customers’ needs while retaining the security and processing features of a global fintech leader. By adding a clean and streamlined UI, we’ve crafted an essential tool for yacht charter professionals to perform their everyday business. The Process Designing with Consistency in Mind is no small feat. It requires careful consideration of user experiences and a keen eye to detail. To ensure our product remains consistent across the board, we created a comprehensive UI kit that serves as a roadmap for our design process. Every screen of the app is designed with the user in mind and the UI kit serves as a visual reference for the design team. With this UI kit, we can ensure consistency and reduce chaos across the entire product. The Support Providing all-inclusive support during the project’s lifetime was a key selling point. TSM is a US-based professional eSports organization that manages many leading teams competing in today’s hottest gaming sensations. Always hungry for more, TSM figured it’s time to have their own professional hangout spot in the form of a gaming facility, a badass establishment built solely for the players and their fans.  “Work,” play, chill has a better ring than Live, laugh, love, anyway. The complex will be outfitted with all the essentials, and then some: streaming rooms, a viewing stage, content studio, cafeteria, a fitness gym, and wellness center. Construction zone ahead Convince investors and advertise the groundbreaking facility in one swift blow? Check. We’ve made short work of the construction plans and renders, ensuring that they’re presented in a captivating light; take a tour of the building as if you were right there. ICONic design, lifelike experience Taking inspiration from sci-fi movies and games, we’ve crafted lifelike chambers. Building off of the future facility’s original 3D models, we’ve adapted them to be browser and resource-friendly.
