Goal: Contracts are an integral part of business and everyday life. The current labour intensive process of creating, signing, and storing contracts is an expensive way to create agreements between different parties. So Notary aimed to tackle this using cutting edge blockchain technology to create an efficient method of creating, storing and signing contracts - anywhere and anytime. Solution: A mobile application built on Ethereum blockchain network that offers the use of templates for standard contracts for different real-life cases in an intuitive and user-friendly interface. Blockchain technology provides the proof of the digital documents’ existence, content and identity of involved parties by allowing the creation of a timestamp and storage of digital documents in a form that prevents tampering with them. Challenge: Micro and small loans are underserved and usurious which results in a $2 trillion financing gap. Lenders are out of reach and expensive. They are also blind to alternative datasets resulting in missed opportunities for investors and for creditworthy individuals and businesses. So Meritt goals was to build a lending platform that tokenizes loans to diversify the risk for lenders. Solution: We created a DApp that list lending opportunities. It issues loan tokens lenders that represents interest rate, repayment schedules and principal amount. Lenders can further trade these loan tokens. Credit worthiness of borrower starts from a very small loan and increase with repayments history. Challenge: Our goal was to develop a blockchain network with smart contract (programmable) based fee mechanism so each application can implement their own fee model, without compromising on security and transaction speed. Solution: Because of it's permissioned and enterprise nature we chose Quorum blockchain as our starting point. We added a layer on top to provide a programmable fee mechanism and replaced it's iBFT with HiBFT to address trust and security issues between parties at different authority levels. Challenge: Our goal was to provide an easy way to swap GSU with ETH and other ERC20 tokens like USDT, without the need of login or KYC. Smart contracts based decentralised token swap is easier if it is peer to peer and doesn't require integration with any external system. But in our case, both were there, GSU is an algorithmic currency so each swap requires real time communication with the rate system and it wasn't peer to peer which introduces liquidity challenges. Solution: We created a DApp with easy user experience that allows users to swap GSU with ETH or USDT at current rates. For rate system integration, a distributed middleware was designed to avoid single point of failure or compromise. To ensure the availability of liquidity, a smart contract monitoring system was designed to trigger alerts when liquidity is below a certain threshold.
