Lennie Appelquist's journey began in 2003 when he started a small website design business, FreeMarket Media Group, in Topanga, California. Initially, it was a hobby that emerged during his downtime as a director's lead on movie sets. However, he soon discovered a natural talent for coding and a keen eye for design.
A turning point came when someone asked him to quote a price for designing a website. This question sparked his interest, and he began to envision his response. As his skills and passion for the business grew, so did his ambition to expand the company.
At the time, Lennie was a one-man operation, handling design, coding, writing, and ownership. However, with the arrival of Elizabeth, his life partner, the company underwent significant changes. Elizabeth, who had previously lived in Easthampton, Massachusetts, made the decision to move to California to be with Lennie. After finding love and happiness, she joined him in his venture, and together they explored the idea of transforming FreeMarket Media Group into a full-fledged design agency.
Their partnership proved to be a winning formula, and the company flourished.
