After serving as a law clerk for the First Circuit Court, State of Hawaii, Daniel served as a Hawaii Deputy Public Defender. He later served as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Hawaii, West Oahu and as a Guest Lecturer at the Richardson School of Law, at the University of Hawaii.
