In 1976, the Holi Corporation was founded by Dale W. Holifield. When naming her business, Dale sought guidance from her mother, who suggested the name Holi, derived from the first four letters of Dale's last name. The mother also added a touch of elegance by placing "holly leaves" above the "i" in Holi, ensuring the pronunciation would be recognized as "holly" rather than "holy." Furthermore, she purchased a replica of a 19th-century peddler's wagon plaque, which bears the inscription "Square Deal Peddler."
This plaque became the foundation of Holi's mission statement, which is rooted in three core principles: recruiting the most skilled applicants, paying fair wages, billing clients at reasonable rates, and taking a fair profit for the company. The plaque still hangs in Dale's office today, serving as a reminder of the company's commitment to these values.
