We add the “smart” in “smart devices” and the “connected” in “connected hardware.” We specialize in collecting data from challenging locations without grid power or WiFi, using mostly movable, battery-powered, low-energy sensors that can run for 1-5 years at a time.</p><p>Kaltiot provides cost-effective IoT solutions for companies in Finland, Europe and beyond that want to use IoT technology for measurement, monitoring, or produce their own smart devices. We primarily use existing hardware and devices from various manufacturers, and develop custom software as required. Devices are carefully selected, tested and integrated into our own service. This allows us to offer the best options for each customer’s needs, and to develop IoT projects quickly and cost-effectively without compromising security.</p><p>Starting an IoT project with us is easy and straightforward. Together, we define what is needed to solve the challenge and then design a solution that meets your needs. We present a first prototype of what the end result could look like on an agile schedule. After the initial design and testing phase, we’re also happy to continue working with you to continue expanding the software and service.</p>

It’s impossible to maintain the temperature and humidity balance of a building during the frame and interior construction phase without ongoing, comprehensive measurement. A construction site is not a factory, where work takes place in precisely controlled conditions. It’s a harsh and constantly changing environment. From a drying perspective, the different seasons alone place completely different demands on both the equipment and the process, resulting in different approaches to controlled drying. Remote monitoring of temperature and humidity can help to identify where in the building measures are needed to remove moisture or control heat. The data can also be used to measure whether enough dry air is being produced, whether the building is warm enough, and whether a wet space is being ventilated effectively enough.
Kaltiot developed a tracking solution for tracking usage of free public outdoor gyms. The solution also overcame the gyms’ open nature. Because users could enter the gyms from any direction, it wasn’t possible to easily track the number of users who entered the area. Kaltiot’s solution instead uses smart sensors installed directly inside each piece of equipment that count the number of users based on the number of reps and sets performed. Counting individual reps and sets also helps understand how users use the gyms equipment. The solution is designed to operate year-round on battery power in Finland's sub-Arctic climate.
The main goal of Posti was to create package locker that could be placed outside to enable 24/7 access, without needing to set up an electrical connection, and that would work year-round in Finland's sub-Arctic climate. Kaltiot led the project and worked on developing the original plan for how to approach such a challenging problem. This included searching for a partner that could provide functional, affordable physical locks that could be connected using Kaltiot’s software to the internet. The finished outdoor lockers use physical locks made “smart” with the advanced wireless data transmission and connection technologies, such as BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) and LTE-M. The finished lockers run off less power than a typical car battery for about a full year. Even the IOT gateway runs off battery power. The lockers are integrated into the Postal Service's own tools for workers to load and unload packages.Kaltiot led the project and worked on developing the original plan for how to approach such a challenging problem. This included searching for a partner that could provide functional, affordable physical locks that could be connected using Kaltiot’s software to the internet.
