In accordance with Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan of April 5, 2018 No. UP-5400 \"On measures to fundamentally improve the system of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and strengthen its responsibility for the implementation of priority areas of foreign policy and foreign economic activity,\" the Bureau of Interpreters was established at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The aim of the Organization is to carry out a single structured activity in the system of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the framework of other involved departments in Uzbekistan in the sphere of providing quality services in terms of both oral and written translations.

The Bureau of Interpreters is a state institution headed by a director who is appointed and dismissed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan in agreement with the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The main tasks and activities of the Bureau of Interpreters:

-provision of simultaneous and consecutive interpretation of official events with the participation of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, heads and senior officials of foreign countries and international organizations;

-translation of materials prepared in the framework of official events, as well as assistance in establishing the authenticity of the texts of draft international treaties concluded by the Republic of Uzbekistan in the state and foreign languages;

-training of highly qualified translators amongst graduates of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, Uzbek State University of World Languages and other specialized higher educational institutions;

-ensuring the development of skills in foreign languages of employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as on a contractual basis, employees of units for international cooperation of state bodies;

-provision of interpretation and translation services to public and economic administration bodies, local public authorities and other organizations on a contractual basis.

The Bureau has three specialized departments in 14 language areas. In particular, the following foreign languages ?were introduced into the activities of the Bureau: Western Europe - English, French, German, Italian and Spanish, Middle East and South Asia - Arabic, Persian and Turkish, as well as Hindi, Dari and Urdu, East Asian countries - Chinese, Korean and Japanese.

The Bureau of Interpreters is fully funded from the state budget, with the possibility of carrying out services in a legally prescribed manner also on a commercial basis.
