Mercuros invests in low-cost, but highly liquid index tracking exchange traded funds (ETFs) from leading financial providers to build a diversified portfolio, and keep all the costs as low as possible. This way all the focus and the possibility of maximizing your returns are at full capacity.THE CHALLENGE One of the core challenges that we faced while building Mercuros was the delivery of the whole project in a short timeframe while integrating a series of complex systems. The platform needed a first place for interaction and user registration. While completing the sign-up process in a second phase, the app needed a payment integration, various subscription plans, and a dedicated reporting and analytics area, with custom charts and real-time data processing.The reporting area had to bring together a heavy pack of data, with many charts that were processing multiple types of data at the same time. Additionally, each user had to check an oversimplified dashboard to quickly understand what’s happening. Besides developing the features, we had to make sure we improved the current algorithms, to improve the speed and the processing systems of each pack of data.Having a limited budget we had to optimize each page, button and functionality to fit the budget. In this way, from the design phase, we have tried to highlight what is the most important for the end users, by simplifying everything to have a good UI/UX and also enough to understand the value of the developed platform.We had a couple of internal brainstorming sessions that helped us to bring good ideas to the surface. These ideas were projected by our designer and transformed very fast into something more visual, which were shared with the client for approval. The client brought his ideas which completed ideally what we have sketched.Our biggest effort was in finding the best charts to display all the information to the end user in a single page/web form, so he can make the right decision for the next investment rounds. As we always focus on the end user, we had to cut some functionalities from the Admin Panel just to focus more on the Customer App.THE RESULTThe first version of the application included a beautiful design that gathered many positive feedback elements. At the same time, as soon as it engaged with its first users it received various reviews on how easy is to use due to the full pack of instructions and details that users have in their on boarding process.This first release was delivered successfully, and the feedback from the very first users helped us adapt the MVP and implement their action points in the next release. As more positive feedback we are getting, the closer we are to a new release.
MissCake is a small Romanian bakery shop that offers high-quality services, and has one of the most appreciated cakes and sweets at the events happening in town. Working in the food industry is a challenge by default as the business owner has to often face short deadlines and perishable ingredients. While having this in mind, planning becomes a primordial step ahead of anything else. MissCake’s owners prepare rigorously, each day what they need to deliver and they take into consideration all the orders that entered during the week. Besides the ongoing daily activity, a typical bakery business needs a higher number of employees, vacation days for them to rest, a thorough planning, and more.THE CHALLENGE Resources planning and prioritization are the two elements that can shake the core of a bakery business, and we faced the need to scale the existing solutions for better efficiency. As a first step, we had to build a template that would contain all the bakery’s products and the phases that each product needs to go through in its standardized process.In a second phase, we had to develop an algorithm that would generate the planning and product prioritization for the upcoming three months, by taking into consideration the following factors:The manufacturing phases needed by each cake & their priorityDelivery and perishability dateVacation days and working hours for each employeeThe total number of employees and their dataTotal number of products leaving the bakeryALWAYS PUT YOURSELF IN CUSTOMER'S SHOESUnderstanding the real needs and problems of Miss Cake, we started with discovery sessions through online meetings, and then we continued with product demonstrations, as soon as technological advancements were made. This process had a tremendous impact on the custom development of the software because we manage to collect direct feedback from their customers. This is how we managed to be sure the product development is going in the right direction and ensure a thorough process automation. SOMETIMES CAKE LAYERS AND FLEXIBLE ALGORITHMS ARE FEW STEPS AWAYIf you take a look at cakes and technological systems, you’ll be amazed by how similar they are because at the end of the day they both work with layers. In the algorithm that we worked on we had to define how a simple order would split then in the type of cakes and days required phases for production, and finally get a person assigned to it.The development of the last layer was the most challenging part, and that took the majority of the dedicated time for this project and required the most important decisions from both our part and Miss Cake’s team.

This app is aiming to change that through an integrated hub for people to find specialist job training that can’t be found in books or online videos.EDTECH MVP 101’sMVP had ambitious goals that needed to be present in order for the app to be competitive when it hit the ground running.First off, people being at the center of the app, user registration was the first core functionality which needed to be on point. Clean databases which house user data, geolocation, analytics, as well as user behavior features such as media file upload and in-app messages needed to work together but not step on each other’s shoes.Next up, the mobile app was looking to integrate revenue generation directly into the app. Together, we picked Stripe as the reliable payment processor for this task which enabled us to spend time more efficiently on other features, without worrying about building payments from the ground up.To engage users and enable platform growth, we’ve implemented push notifications for course booking, as well as messages. Going a step further, we’ve made the course progress, ratings and reviews are shareable on social media for learners to get awareness towards future employers, as well as bring much needed attention towards the platform itself.
